Over the past five years, Canada’s automotive industry has been marked by modest growth and relative stability. Annual vehicle production averaged just
below 2.4 million units over the past five years and vehicle assembly and parts manufacturing employment have increased steadily. The federal government and the governments of Ontario and Québec have implemented and refined several public policy tools designed to support investments in both traditional automotive manufacturing and in emerging vehicle technologies.
